Detection of Metallo Beta Lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa among Clinical Isolates

چکیده
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an increasing prevalent opportunistic human pathogen most common gram-negative bacteria found in nosocomial infections. Despite improvements in antibiotic therapy, Pseudomonas aeruginosa is intrinsically resistant to a number of antimicrobial agents. [1] It is mainly present as a saprophyte in warm moist conditions in the environment including sinks, drains, respirators, humidifiers and disinfectant solutions.

Phenotypic Detection Of Metallo-beta-lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strains Isolated From Burned Patients
Background and Objective: Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-mediated resistance is an emerging threat in hospital isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. There is not enough information from Iran regarding the prevalence and the screening methods for such enzymes. The present study was undertaken to detect Metallo betalactamase in strains of P. aeruginosa isolated from burned patien...

Background and Objective: Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic nosocomial pathogen. Evidence suggests that the incidence of enzyme-producing strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Metalo Beta Lactamases (MBL) is a major problem in the treatment of infections caused by this organism. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of class I and II integrons among metalobetalactamase pro...
متن کاملThe Determination of Metallo-Beta-Lactamase Enzymes Prevalence in Pseudomonas Aeruginosa using Etest and their Antibiogram Patterns in Kermanshah, Iran
Background & Aims: One of the main causes of nosocomial infection is pseudomonas aeruginosa and carbapenems is one of the most important classes of antibiotics used in the treatment of infections caused by this bacteria. Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) production is one of the most important mechanisms of resistance to carbapenems and their increased prevalence is a serious threat to treatment of ...

Introduction: Carbapenems are one of the latest drugs for treatment of threatening infections of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Resistance to these antibiotics is sometimes caused by carbapnmase class B, such as VIM metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) that is growing in the communities. The aim of this study was to detect the of metallo-beta-lactamase blaVIM-1 gene among clinical isolates of Pseudomonas aeru...
متن کاملblaVIM and blaIMP Genes Detection in Isolates of Carbapenem Resistant P. aeruginosa of Hospitalized Patients in Two Hospitals in Iran
Background & objective: Beta-lactam antibiotics resistance specifically Imipenem and Meropenem, the last choices of treatment, causes fatal events in patients with P.aeruginosa infection. The aim of this study was to detect the VIM and IMP of metallo-beta-lactamase genes in 103 isolates of P. aeruginosa in two Iranian hospitals. <strong...
متن کاملPrevalence of Clinically Isolated Metallo-beta-lactamase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Coding Genes, and Possible Risk Factors in Iran
Background & Objective: The spread of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a global concern. Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL) enzymes cause extensive drug resistance among Gram-negative bacteria. The current study aimed at determining the prevalence of MBL-producing P. aeruginosa in Iran. Methods<...
